COL Nathan Marvel Commanding Officer Marine Aircraft Group 39

Colonel (Col) Nathan S. Marvel is currently serving as the commanding officer of Marine Aircraft Group 39, located on Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California.

Col Marvel’s operational experience includes multiple deployments as an AH-1W and AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopter pilot. These deployments include Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM as well as a Unit Deployment Program (UDP) and Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) deployment. He has also served as an instructor pilot at the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron (MAWTS-1) in Yuma, Arizona.

Prior to his current assignment Col Marvel served as the Marine Corps Operational Liaison at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from 2018-2020.
