CAPT Jason Weed Commodore Navy UUVRON-1

CAPT Weed graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.

Following initial submarine officer training, he reported onboard USS AUGUSTA (SSN 710) in December 1999. He served in several division officer positions during this tour and completed a Northern Atlantic deployment. Prior to his Department Head tour, he was the L.Y. Spear recipient as the top graduate of the Submarine Officer Advanced Course. Subsequent sea tours include Navigator/Operations Officer onboard USS MEMPHIS (SSN 691) and USS AUGUSTA (SSN 710), completing deployments to EUCOM, INDO-PACOM, and AFRICOM theaters. He then served as Executive Officer aboard USS BUFFALO (SSN 715), homeported in Agańa, Guam, and completed several deployments in the INDO-PACOM AOR. CDR Weed held Command of the USS NEW HAMPSHIRE (SSN 778) from April 2015 to October 2017. NEW HAMPSHIRE completed a EUCOM deployment in 2016, where the crew earned a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation for their outstanding performance.

Ashore, he served as the Naval Submarine School lead tactics instructor, Operations Officer at COMSUBDEVRON TWELVE, the Force Navigator and Operation Officer at Commander, Submarine Force Atlantic. During his most recent shore tour, CAPT Weed was the Director of Maritime Operations for COMSUBGRU TWO.

CAPT Weed will serve as the first Commodore of Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Squadron ONE in Keyport, Washington.
