As vice president and head of the Deep Science Fund at Intellectual Ventures (IV), Dr. Brian Holloway leads a diverse team of technologists and entrepreneurs as they develop high-risk, high-reward opportunities into commercial successes via an innovative research, development, and commercialization model.
Brian joined IV from Lockheed Martin, where he served as the chief technology officer of the Advanced Technology Lab and was responsible for the laboratory's research vision, technology road mapping, and business development. Prior to Lockheed Martin, he served as a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and as an associate director of the Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG) office in London. Leading up to his government service, he was part of the leadership team at Luna Innovations Inc. and was a tenured associate professor in the Department of Applied Science at the College of William & Mary.
Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and a master’s degree and doctorate in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
