Dr. Mark Wrobel Program Manager Defense Sciences Office

Dr. Mark Wrobel joined DARPA as a program manager in the Defense Sciences Office in 2019. His interests include the development of new capabilities for detecting and interdicting threats associated with weapons of mass destruction, including chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats to national security.

Prior to joining DARPA, he was a lead program manager for the Department of Homeland Security’s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office, and the former Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. At both offices he was responsible for a strategic research portfolio focused on advanced nuclear and radiological detection technologies.

Wrobel is a retired U.S. Air Force officer, spending his career in the fields of health physics and radiological engineering. He received a doctorate in environmental health sciences (health physics) from the University of Michigan, and holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in nuclear engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is board certified by the American Board of Health Physics.
