Dr. Senthil Arul is the R&D Program Manager for the Defense Logistics Information Research (DLIR) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) programs.
The DLIR program focuses research on Industry 4.0, Digital Thread/Digital Twin, Model Based Enterprise, etc. to improve the quality, security, and interoperability of engineering and business data to increase DLA buying power and improve operational readiness. The SCM program focuses research on building Digital Twin of logistics and distribution operations that move thousands of items across various supply chains to support contingent operations and find bottlenecks, on time arrival, etc. SCM program is also exploring research opportunities in Clothing & Textile (C&T) areas to bring more greener materials and manufacturing processes. A key initiative of both programs is to build a more resilient and secure supply chain for DLA/DoD by advancing new technology across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) specifically Small and Mid-Size Manufacturers (SMMs).
Senthil has more than 25 years of experience in managing engineering and Information Technology (IT) programs from planning and design to implementation and completion, incorporating best practices of public and private sector principles and methods. Senthil is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park teaching Design for Sustainability and Managing for Quality and Innovation. Senthil has a doctoral degree in manufacturing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and is DAWIA level 3 certified in Program Management, Business Cost Engineering, and Systems Engineering.
