Sunil Chandran, Ph.D., is Senior Vice President and Head of R&D at Amyris, Inc., where he oversees the development of microorganisms that efficiently convert plant-derived feedstocks to chemicals for use in a wide range of applications including pharmaceuticals, fuels, fragrances, food, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics among many others. He has more than 15 years of experience in industrial biotechnology, with a proven track record of bringing multiple biotech products to market. He has more than 20 published scientific papers and patents. He holds a BS in chemistry from the University of Mumbai, an MS in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Michigan State University.
