Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind Vice Commander US Special Operations Command

Lt. Gen. Tony D. Bauernfeind is currently serving as Vice Commander, Headquarters U.S. Special Operations Command, Washington, D.C. He is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing actions with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, the services and other government agencies in the National Capital Region on behalf of the Commander, USSOCOM.

Lt. Gen. Bauernfeind earned his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1991. Earning his wings in 1992, he has flown more than 3,500 hours in the MC-130E, MC-130H and MQ-9 aircraft. He has commanded special operations forces at the squadron, group, wing and theater special operations command levels.

Prior to his current assignment, Lt. Gen. Bauernfeind served as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
